Born on the island of Puerto Rico, Miguel moved to New York City at the age of 3.  You can say that he's been traveling for some time now.  It is one of his many passions.  He studied at the University at Buffalo and the Universidad de La Habana in Cuba where he completed his Master's Degree in Caribbean Cultural Studies.

Miguel is currently a full-time Director of Support Programs for a non-profit agency   in Brooklyn, NYC that serves adults, children and families with special needs. Miguel is also a talented musician having studied the piano, trumpet and guitar and does independent contracting with various community-based agencies in NYC as a therapeutic teaching artist.  Miguel has also been an adjunct professor in the History Department of a liberal arts college in NYC.

What inspired this book was Miguel's interest in working with children, love for travel, teaching and the birth of his first son in August of 2011.

Miguel currently lives in NYC with his wife Yesenia and two sons; Julián and Lionel.
